Manchester United Soccer Schools Announces the Development Squad

Soccer training in Dubai has taken on a new dimension with the introduction of the Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) Development Squad.

The MUSS coaching philosophy aims at developing continual improvement and that is the driving force behind the introduction of this brand new programme in Dubai for 2006/2007.

Manchester United Soccer Schools coaching staff have selected players from this season’s course, who have consistently achieved a high standard of play and closely followed the MUSS Code of Conduct both on and off the field, to train as part of the Development Squad. The selection process for the Development Squad is ongoing, as players who show the necessary improvement will be invited to be part of the squad. The advanced Development Squad training sessions focus on the technical, tactical, mental and physical aspects of the game in a team orientated, positive and supportive match play environment.

Mick Duxbury, Head Coach for the programme this season said, “We are extremely pleased at the talent we have seen in Dubai and the Development Squad is the next natural step within the recreational programme we operate. We have had positive feedback from the parents and the current Development Squad players are setting an excellent example for the other participants.”

Manchester United Soccer Schools is operated in Dubai by Dubai Sports City and since the first season last year over 1200 football passionate youngsters have been able to experience the MUSS coaching philosophy, which is specially adapted from the coaching programme at Manchester United’s Youth Academy.

A permanent Manchester United Soccer Schools facility is being built at Dubai Sports City and is scheduled to open in 2008.
