Terry: Bring back Becks!

ENGLAND captain John Terry has sensationally backed David Beckham to make a comeback for the national side.

Terry, 26, admitted England have been below-par — and said Becks was a world-class player.

The Chelsea defender — who took over as skipper when Becks was axed by boss Steve McClaren last year — was asked if the Real Madrid star was too good to ignore.

Terry said: “Yes, of course. He’s a fantastic player. That’s Steve McClaren’s decision to pick and drop players, but he’s still a world-class player.

“He’d love to come back for his country and play.” After his shock axeing, The Sun launched a campaign to reinstate Becks, 31.

Terry, currently chasing four trophies with Chelsea, added: “Taking over from such an iconic captain as David Beckham was a tough act to follow. He changed the role of England captain in many ways.

“But first and foremost he was a fantastic player and still is.

Terry’s comments, in a BBC interview, came on the day England ace Michael Owen made his comeback from injury for Newcastle.

Becks is moving to Los Angeles Galaxy this summer — and on Sunday his wife Victoria showed their showbiz pals Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes around their new Beverly Hills mansion.

Posh, 32, and actress Katie, 28, drove to the £11million Italian-style villa after a champagne lunch at a luxury hotel.

The six-bed, nine-bathroom mansion is just two minutes from the home Katie shares with hubby Tom, 44 — who arrived later.

A source said: “Victoria couldn’t wait to show Katie all her plans.

“She looked very pleased with herself.”
