Teenager playing soccer collapses at center, dies

RANCHO BERNARDO: A 13-year-old boy who collapsed while playing soccer at the Rancho Bernardo Recreation Center last night later died, authorities said.

The teen, whose name was not released, was playing at the north end of the recreation grounds behind a baseball diamond. San Diego police and paramedics were called at 7:13 p.m.

Someone at the center performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the boy, who was then airlifted to a hospital. He was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
