Charity soccer match will aid care centre

AN annual charity football tournament will this year be scoring pounds for a cancer day care charity.
Colin Watson, 24, his dad Mick and friend Robert Scott have organised the charity match on June 24 to raise funds for the Lakelands Day Care Centre in Corby.

This is the third year the tournament has been put on in memory of Colin’s grandad Alex Ogilvie, who died in 2005 from cancer.

Mr Watson, of Bulwell Green, Corby, who works at Neat Ideas, said: “Each year we have donated the proceeds to a cancer charity and so this year decided we would raise money for the Lakelands.

“In the past we have managed to collect about £500, so it would be great to raise even more this year.”

About 12 teams made up of friends and family will be taking part in the event, which will be held at the Stewarts and Lloyds football ground in Occupation Road, Corby.

Lakelands fundraiser Kevin Costello said: “We are delighted they have decided to think of us and we think it’s a great way to raise money.”
